Our Praxis

I acknowledge that no space can be guaranteed completely safe. I have watched the Brave Space description and commit to bringing courage, openness, and my best effort to all group calls. I am responsible for my time and energy and if I am not able to be present, I will turn off my camera and tend to my needs.

I acknowledge that this is a sacred space and will not share personal details or images of other community members without their consent. The lessons and wisdom are welcome to be shared, but private details remain confidential.

I commit to respecting others' pronouns and refrain from using generalized language that is gendered and/or hierarchical (ie: ladies, queens, goddesses, etc). I consent to potentially being called in to revisit language for the purpose of enhancing language expansion and/or community safety.

I commit to practicing active listening; to not talk over or interrupt anyone or give unsolicited advice. I am committed to being aware of the entire group and sharing speaking time and stepping back so others may have the chance to step up and speak. I will not share explicit stories of violence or trauma. I speak in "I" statements so as to not speak for others.

I am committed to developing personal practices that are authentic to myself and my unique frequency and journey. I do my best to be aware of closed practices and appropriation and consent to potential conversation should any cultural appropriateness come into question. I am committed to examining my identities and how they may afford me power and privilege. I refrain from digital blackface and utilize emojis and gifs that are accurate to my skin color and identities.

By entering the Soft Power community, I accept accountability for my actions in Soft Power spaces, including the Discord server, Zoom calls, comment sections of Instagram, YouTube, and Substack. This includes the potential of being approached for conversations regarding harm and repair, initiated by and facilitated in collaboration with the Soft Power leadership team. Soft Power reserves the right to remove anyone from the community for violating the Community Agreements and we commit to approaching violations with openness and care.
